So thrilled my #blueoilfern is pushing out its very first new leaf under my care โจ๏ธ ๐ฅน Bought online and fussy from the start, it wasn't till I mentioned my woes to a staff person at one of my favourite local plant stores (not the store I bought it from) - they gave me some soil tips that completely turned things around for my little frondy friend. Beth is on the up and up now! ๐

@ballondusoleil Congrats on the new leaf. Soil tips and/or any tip Can you please share some of those tips?
@Arid_oasis Hi Carole! Basically, I had it in an all-purpose potting medium but it kept the roots too damp even though it was a specialty blend that was supposed to be suitable for ferns. My local plant store suggested blending the all-purpose mix with an aroid blend at around 25%. It did the trick! And I recently saw another new leaf so I guess it's happy ๐
@ballondusoleil so you mix it in with with a 50% chunky Aroid mix? It really is looking wonderful. Keep up the good work.
@Arid_oasis thanks, Carole ๐ also, apologies for the long delays in a replies! The months leading up to Christmas holidays keeps me insanely busy at work so I just barely stay on top of watering my plants. This time of year also intensifies my depression, which led to a bunch of plant deaths and more sadness. This is my first winter as a more invested plant parent and its been tough. Trying my best to get back into the swing of things with my plants and life ๐ค
@ballondusoleil hang in there my friend & remember we r all here to hold one another up so if we can help IN ANY WAY!!!; Please reach out !!!
