WOW this the coolest orchid I’ve ever seen, seriously!
Looks happy where it’s at, any thoughts on the pot situation? I’ve never seen this type of pot on an orchid #PlantAddict #OrchidLovers
7ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage

What a magnificent brassia you have there. And yes, many big retailers and even nurseries - at least around here -, tend to skip the slightly more expensive transparent aerated pots with almost all oncidium types. But still, everything that applies to other epiphytic orchids, applies here as well: the roots need their air pockets and are prone to rot. (Though many oncidium types are more thirsty than eg. phalaenopses).
I would just enjoy the blooms, water when it seems dry (maybe instead of soaking, water around the inner rim of the pot and spray the roots on top regularly, as long as you do not know if there is a spongey nursery plug in there, so as not to overwater). A sign you are watering too little are droopy blooms and wrinkles on the pseudobulbs.
Then, after the bloom, wait for new root growth - oftentimes there are lots of new roots, when the new pseudobulb begins to grow, or shortly after that. Then, as with other orchids, choose a good medium, repot, trim the old roots, remove the nursery plug (if there is one) and repot into a real orchid pot. It's always better to see the roots in my opinion, especially if dealing with a new genus or species.
Have fun with the beautiful Kesha.
Hello, it looks like you have a spider orchid (possibly: brassia type). Very beautiful!
Some nurseries use a short cut and rather than to repot use the pot with holes to provide the airflow to a tightly packed roots. Looking at the photo of the plant and all of its sticking out roots, the plant could use a slightly bigger pot, not by much as it enjoys tightness. Once the bloom is gone, check the medium if it's ready to be replaced.
@MusicalRedmint this is some great info, thank you so much!!
