G’ma Beatrice's snake plant blooms!

Hello #GregGang and happy-almost #FreshLeafFriday Eve. My first #snakeplant β€” named for my late heroine G’ma Beatrice (here’s her baby photo) β€” has sprouted both a new pup *and* her first flower bud. EEEEK! 😭😍 #SnakePlantSquad #HappyPlants #planthairdontcare
10ft to light, indirect
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
That's freaking awesome
This is my new snake plant. My son sent me for Christmas. It’s very healthy I named him E Junior.
You’re going to be a plant grandma ! Congratulations πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰πŸΎ!
I love that you named it after your G'ma. How exciting that you are getting pups AND a flower!
FLOWER?! Ahhh!!
@PlantMompy @UltraKoreanfir @ravanika I’m fixin’ to come apart over that bitty bud. πŸ₯° All credit goes to the Greg hive, south-facing windows, terracotta and succulent soil. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½
@ShrewdIcarus Ooohh do I get to pick my granny nickname now?l? Gigi? LaLa? Birdie?
That is so wonderful!!! The flowers are amazing and last quite a while πŸ‘πŸŒΈπŸ’•
They do ooze a stick dew so be careful what’s under your plant.
@MariansOasis Ohhhh, good to know. I’ll get her a bib so she doesn’t drip on the marble table top. Thanks for the tip!
Oh so cute thanks for sharing. πŸ₯°
@JeanwithaJ you have your snake plant in a south facing window? Can it take that much direct sunlight? 😟
@userada768e7 he is very handsome!πŸ₯°
@JeanwithaJ I love the name birdie. That’s my vote.
@SportyWhiskfern If you click on the link above for Bea’s details, you’ll see she’s about 10ft away (from a wall-sized window in my tiny 4th floor office). No direct sunlight β€” very bright, but all indirect. Snake plants can tolerate less than ideal conditions but thrive in bright light. They can grow in full sun in their native habitat (western Africa and Asia).
@SportyWhiskfern I love Birdie, too! That said, the best granny name I’ve heard used here down South might just be β€œFoxy” β€” SO spunky!
I’ve moved all my snake plants to the east window. It’s been a few days and they look happy.
Nice
@SportyWhiskfern That’s great! I bet they are basking in the morning glow. 🌞 (TBH, I would put all mine in an eastern window if I could - but there’s only one decent one and it’s in my husband’s office. There’s a limit to how many plants I can stash in there!) πŸ˜‚
I have two of them.
@JeanwithaJ Yeah I hear you. My husband doesn’t mind the plant habit as long as I practice boundaries. πŸ˜‚
@JeanwithaJ I put them on a lazy Susan so I can spin them everyday and put a different one in front everyday. And they share it with an Alocasia. πŸ₯° So far no fighting. Lol
@JeanwithaJ I never knew anyone who loved snake plants like I do. Makes me like you more. I think they are so handsome and stately.
@SportyWhiskfern Ha! Yeah, more is more, but (sigh) boundaries are good. I love your lazy Susan method! So clever. And thanks for the #snakesquad cheer. They are my absolute favorite. I most admire their tenacity and resilience under adversity and duress β€” a trait I’ve had to rely on in my own life and chosen career. 🫢
Strong, determined, all good traits for beings that depend on my A.D. D. addled mind to take care of them. That’s what you all do for my babies to keep them alive! Thanks πŸ™ I love this community!πŸ₯°πŸŒ±
