What I have learned in my brief research regarding this plant is that she is going to be a drama queen! She will need distilled water, to be in a room with a humidifier and to have her beautiful foliage keep out of the sun! Sounds like me, except substitute coffee or wine for the distilled water! 😊 Let’s see what happens.

This plant started automatically dying when I got it. I am a bit of a novice so I confess getting a calathea may not have been the best decision (which, btw, was an accident). After losing hope and creating a death altar for it, someone told me to just chop off pretty much all the leaves and leave it alone to either die or figure it’s pettiness out. So I left one and set it in my plant rehab corner to die. Now, approximately a month later it wants to push out a new leaf! I guess I’m excited but also, not really. I even bought a water distiller just for this plant. What a daymare and headache. PLEASE DONT GET THIS PLANT UNLESS YOU CAN PROVIDE A LOT OF HUMIDITY AND ALSO DISTILLED WATER. That is all. ☠️

The reason to have any calathea is the beautiful foliage but they need someone with some plant experience & a light hand with the water.

They are very dramatic, constantly changing their leaves and moving a lot. Mine has done amazing with my little humidifier I got off Amazon.

I love the delicate look of these leaves, and the two tone coloring. This guy is a bit of a drama queen, and will let you know when it’s unhappy - leaves are very expressive and will drop and brown easily.
