If you have a window in your bathroom, this fern is gonna love you. I have it in the patio for now since it’s not too hot/cold yet, but as much as it’s sprouting new stems, it gets crispy at the tips just as quickly. Also, misting plants do nothing, I wish people would stop giving that archaic advice.

Oh Maidenhair Ferns, where do I even start? This is like the “trophy” of all plants, if you can keep it alive.
The trick is it’s crazy sensitive to dry air. I think it’s because the leaves are so delicate and thin, and the stems are tiny, so it has difficulty pulling enough water from the soil during times of low humidity.
Very few plants need a humidifier, but this is the one that does I think - during winter or if you live in a dry climate. Misting won’t cut it because misting occasionally doesn’t do much for any plant (it’s like trying to use a match to heat a room).
Besides that, water frequently! It does well with relatively low-light conditions but should still probably be within 3-5ft of a window.
On the bright side, the tendrils if puts out are adorable.

I’ve had this fern for a little over two months, and it has doubled in size! So far, so good.
I’ve been following the advice of Darryl Cheng aka HousePlantJournal - this fern does enjoy *some* sun! I have my maidenhair directly in an East facing window, and it seems to love the little bit of direct sun in the morning. Even in winter it has been consistently putting out new growth, and spores! I water it once or twice a week. Keep the soil moist, and you’ll have a happy fern. 🌿
