My fiddle leaf was purchased with three big leaves. Whatever I did (I think underwatered end then stupidly removed from sunlight—thinking it may have burnt), all the leaves browned and started to drop. Well I saw a little green something peeking out from the stem, so I thought I’d give it a try and plopped him right in front of my southern window, no repotting or first aid or anything. I did leave one of the only half brown old leaves that seemed to be still hanging onto the stem tightly. Of course, I assumed I completely killed it in one short month, but by the end of the day, that little green something turned into a tiny bit of a leaf. Within a couple days, I had a small but full green leaf. After a week, a second joined him. I’ve totally failed plants before, but I’ve never known one to survive so quickly and easily! Whatever happens, just don’t give up!

Honestly, this plant is more high maintenance than Beyoncé. If the house is even 1 degree hotter or colder than she likes, she’ll turn brown and play dead. If you water her with even ONE DROP more than she likes- she’s a goner.

With adequate sunlight and a moisture meter to prevent over and under watering, caring for a fiddle leaf fig is simple and satisfying. Love the large lush leaves!

This is the biggest drama queen I have ever owned but they are also my favorite. They beautiful to look at and are so rewarding when you finally get it right. Each tree that I own want specific things and if they don’t get it they throw a tantrum and drop leaves. It’s better to have a scheduled watering rhythm, though. Not for first time plant owners In my opinion.

It’s toxic to pets, I have a dog and a cat and have to monitor them whenever they get near the plant. Other than that I love the tree! Just struggling to keep it full and lush!

Fragile. Leaves don’t like to be brushed much. They tend to fall when bothered.

I would recommend buying a smaller one so you can watch how great it grows. It grows better outdoor if you live in hot climate, however inside you need to sometimes shake it, to simulate wind so the branch can become stronger.
