How to fertilize String of Rubies
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your String of Rubies after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I just got a string of rubies from a friend of mine. I have no idea how to care for it. Any tips are welcome and appreciated!

Oof I’m killing it It’s turning brown and mushy after a repot - I need to repot again. Guessing it’s root rot. Any tips for the next try? I did succulent soil but I think I’ll try more perlite and definitely go with Terra cotta

How do you determine when to water your othonna capensis? Its soil has been dry for a few days, but I don’t see any wrinkles on the leaves like I’ve seen in the past. However❕ the new ‘beads’ coming in appear stunted and small compared to the older ‘beads’ and I thought it could mean they wanted more water. 🤷🏻♀️ #RubyNecklace #StringOfRubies #terracottapots

She's never looked so healthy! ♡ Hopefully I'll start getting "dangly bits" soon. XD #succulentsquad #rubynecklace

Little miss Harriet has gnats on her. What can I do to help her?

Scale? Is this what y'all keep referring to as #Scale? My string of rubies has these spots that have been there for a while. I only recently started noticing it on several different leaves. I also getting new growth on it, so it's not a complete lost cause. If it is scale, what do I do about it? What is scale, anyway?

#sciencewithgreg updated for my #ShowOffSaturday String of rubies experiment. I have combined my pothos VS tap babies, 2 well established SOR cuttings and my beautifully purple stemmed office SOR prop together to create: Office FrankenRuby 👾 (in her new #potsthatarenotpots) 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 I plan to continue to water with pothos water and allow all to become sunstressed cause I am in love with the deep purple vines!!! 🥰🥰

Over or under watered? So, I've already killed my first #succulent by way of overwatering/poor soil drainage. So now I'm nervous. XD I have two new babies that the app wants me to water after 14 days of them being repotted into soil with more grit in it. I didn't wet down the soil or anything; They've just been chillin' in their new container (plastic, but with plenty of drainage), about 8 inches or more away from a grow light. Now the #stringofpickles #stringofrubies is starting to look a little shriveled, with the addition of these odd spots. A couple leaves have gone brown on the #jewelofthedesert, as well. Is this a sign that they need water, or a sign for rot? I don't want to kill these babes, too. DX #succulentsquad #succulents #succulentlove #succulenthelp

Should I move my String of Rubies? So....I have an open spot on ye old west window. I put some cuttings there and may have fried some leaves..🤫 I move the cuttings to a better spot and they are OK. Now I have prime setting sun direct light...and I think my #stringofrubies might LOVE it. I have one at work in a blazing windowsill and growth/color is amazing!!! I have included pics of all mentioned....What say you #greggers and #greggang ....move her or don't move her....

So, I have two new babies! They had a rough shipping experience, but I'm hoping they'll make it, none the less! I've put more drainage in my soil, and also set up a little grow light situation. Not sure if any of these fallen leaves will propagate, but, fingers crossed. I figure I'll try until I'm sure it won't work.
