Over watered soil was like mud so I went to replant it in...

#ArecaPalm
Last watered 1 year ago
It looks like root rot i dont think can be saved
@EarlySeagrape75 Does not look too promising! Is that the entire Palm? The pot seems way to big for that itty bitty plant. Soil should have Peat moss:
Provides moisture retention and a slightly acidic pH that Areca Palms prefer.
Perlite:
Improves aeration and drainage, preventing the soil from becoming compacted.
Sand:
Further enhances drainage, ensuring water doesn't pool around the roots.
Other options:
Some people also add coco coir or a palm-specific potting mix for even better drainage and moisture retention.
Important Considerations:
Avoid heavy soils: Soils that hold too much water can lead to root rot, which is a common problem with Areca Palms.
Drainage is key: Ensure the pot has drainage holes to allow excess water to escape.
Watering: Areca Palms prefer moist soil but don't like to be overwatered. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Preferably in a terracotta pot which is a porous pot and could help prevent root rot.
