Did it indicate on the package if they have any testing? Usually growers will test batches of what they sell so they can ensure the majority will grow. It's normal for a few to be unsuccessful but it should be a very small number.
If it didn't it could be that the seller isn't reputable.
It could also have to do with growing conditions. With the pot lacking drainage they could have gotten too moist.
