Dying leaves

Should I cut off the dead palms of this Palmiste Marron (if that’s what this is)? Tried to over winter two of these but more keeps dying from the bottom. Is this how it grows, by shedding old palms? I got this from a Home Depot and called a β€œspike plant”, which can’t be real name!
8ft to light, indirect
12” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
A spike is a dracaena similar to the dragon tree you have. It's probably a little easier than a palm to grow and you can cut the dead bottom leaves off.
That is normal. They drop the bottom leaves to keep growing. I just pull them off. My spike does it as well as my dragon trees
Yes def cut them off your plant will benefit from a hair cut of sorts this way it will be signaled to create new growth most plants loss there older leaves
Thank you! This is my first question. I really appreciate the speedy response.
Is a Palmiste Marron poisoners to cats? I’m thinking the dead palms would make a great cat toy braided together for a handle with lots of bits wriggling around for the cat to purrrsue :)
