Stagnant Staghorn

I have this staghorn that seems to be struggling no matter what I do. It grows leaves but they are small and weak and die back quickly. I’ve moved to different light sources, adjusted watering and no luck.
3ft to light, direct
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 day ago
Staghorn fern does not like to be potted in soil. They prefer to be mounted on a board with sphagnum moss which should be kept slightly damp. They like a little sun in the morning and bright indirect light the remainder of the day.
Many prefer to put their staghorn on a plank but pots are perfectly fine too. I have mine in a pot and it’s been growing very nicely. For yours I’d say it’s in way too big a pot for its size. Its roots are probably staying too wet. I’d move it to a pot that’s 1”-2” bigger than its root ball. This might be the time to consider mounting on a plank. You’ll need to water more often on a plank than in a pot.
