They love love love bright light! I’m concerned that there’s no drainage on the pot because succulents are VERY susceptible to root rot from sitting in standing water at the bottom of the pot. Succulent soil or soil with LOTS of perlite is best for aeration of the soil and roots. Being consistent with watering once the soil is completely dry down to the bottom of the pot is recommended :) hope this helps!
@GnarlyJacaranda thank you so much! Any recommendations on pot sizes
You want one that is only about an inch larger than the root ball of the plant (the roots when soil is removed).
@GnarlyJacaranda if it’s indoors does it have to have drainage also
Yes it does. You never want the plant to sit in wet water at the bottom of your soil. You can also cut or drill holes into your planter or get a nursery pot and pot your succulent into it and then place it in the pot as a cover pot.
These are the pots I have now. A prebought nursery pot and a ceramic one. You seem to know what you’re doing so here’s the pots:
Ah ok! Does the black pot have holes in the bottom? If so, you can keep the succulent in that pot and bottom water it before letting it drain and putting it in the ceramic pot as a cover pot. Something else to keep in mind is that if you really want to prevent root rot, you can also purchase an inexpensive terracotta pot because those allow air through the porous terracotta material
@GnarlyJacaranda the black pot does have holes at the bottom. So you’re telling me to keep the plant in the black pot in plant that into the ceramic pot?
@Faith_official I also found an empty plastic pot that has holes at the bottom that’s 7.5 inches tall but that might be big. Here’s a size reference
