I think its ok because it is a golden barrel cactus
@Succulent8497 what does that mean? A golden barrel cactus shouldn't be yellow, it should be green all the way down.
@ProperDeergrass have you repotted it since bringing it home? Has the yellow area spread or stayed the same? Does it feel soft or mushy? If it's soft, you need to pull it out of the pot and check the roots. If it's firm, it's likely old stress damage and is just a cosmetic issue at this point.
@stephonicle thank you! I repotted it as soon as I brought it home. I don’t think the yellow has spread, but it hasn’t gone down either. It’s pretty firm so it sounds like it’s likely just stress damage. Hopefully with summer coming he’ll start growing more! He hasn’t grown since I rescued him either but that was in September.
@ProperDeergrass I hear golden barrel cacti are relatively slow growers so minimal growth likely isn’t too worrying. You’re doing great! :)
