Can I repot this Chinese money tree in a pot 1inch larger
This is penny my chinese money plant and i want to make sure im safe to repot it, I also would like advise on what soil to use and how to fertilize it so I donβt kill it with repotting. I love this plant and it means a lot so loosing it would suck! I just want to make sure I am caring for it properly and any advise would be amazing!

@TryCebenese53 hi! Any reason youβre repotting? It looks like a good sized pot for your plant (but I canβt see the roots.) I put it off as long as I can unless:
1. the roots are busting out of the pot (and not just a little sticking out the drainage holes) and my plant uses its water way too fast. This is the only reason I up a size.
2. Itβs a new plant and I want to get it into better soil
3. Disease or pests

@DreamMachine there isnβt any reason i just wanted a different pot but I do realize when i water my plant the water never leaks out the drainage hole which does make me a bit nervous because i donβt want there to be any root rot going on
@TryCebenese53 ooh yeah, definitely check that out then. For pot size, it all depends on the size of the root ball and your watering habits. You want a pot thatβs only slightly bigger than the diameter of the root ball. However if you are a chronic underwater-er I might go up another inch from that size. If you like to water a lot I might size down the pot. The roots can only drink so much water for their size so you donβt want to size up unless they can handle it. Otherwise theyβll be sitting in stagnant moist soil most likely getting root rot.
If you never see water come out that is alarming and does warrant a repot! Only size up if they need to!

@DreamMachine thank you so much! I only water it when the top soil is completely dry than I water but yeah I wonder if I donβt give it enough water when I water and thatβs why water doesnβt drain out but yeah I am nervous about it. Is there a soil or fertilizer you would recommend?
