Yes but I have it sitting inside another pot so the water donβt get on my floor. Should I take it out of the other pot? I have had it for a couple years and now it doing this. Also itβs not growing like it was when I first got it. It is also sitting by my fireplace and close to a heating vent do you think that have anything to do with it ?
@SlinkyUngnadia hello Alesia, sorry about your Yucca!
Iβd say the fireplace and heating vent is definitely not helping. My rubber plant was near a heater and it started drooping and the leaves started browning but itβs been thriving since moving it. So Iβd say moving it to a bright spot with the least temperature fluctuations is best! Maybe moving away from the AC while it recovers too..
Yuccas do prefer terracotta pots but will do fine in plastic pots with less watering, but itβs something you could try. If you do decide to repot, check the roots at the same time to check for root rot and snip off any rotted roots (theyβll be dark and mushy).
Iβd say to take the plastic pot out of the decorative pot and put a tray or something underneath it to catch the water, just make sure to empty any water in the tray so itβs not sitting in water! Yuccas are very drought tolerant and donβt like to stay wet, they actually prefer to be dry, I let my yucca completely dry out before watering :)
