Whats happening here?

I rescued this begonia from some serious neglect at Walmart a few weeks back as a "rehab" plant. She was doing SO well! But yesterday when I came in to "tuck in" my plants for the night, a large part of the tuber had browned and collapsed. Is this a normal progression or is she sick? There's new growth all over the place but this stalk is soft and brown? Is she a goner? #tuberousbegonia #rehabplant #begonia #helpCeleste

I’d go ahead & cut that part off & see if there are any other soft/mushy places on the stems, or how far down that area is dead. If you’ve got more soft spots, you might have some root rot setting in. Which would probably need a repot with trimming of any dead roots.
Hopefully, you’ll cut that bit off & the rest of the plant is healthy 🤞
@angi thank you! Was really hoping I wouldn't have to start hacking pieces of her off but I definitely don't want her to rot away. I cut the sick looking pieces off and will check her again tomorrow for any progression and potentially pull her out and check her roots/replant with fresh soil. She's one of several begonias I have (I LOVE begonias!) but the only tuberous one and seems like this one behaves so differently from the others.
