What kind of soil is best for Bluff Lettuce? Iβve had min...
Youβll need some good draining, gritty succulent soil!! I have some recommendations for both light and soil.
Soil, this is the type I personally use and love: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Succulent-Potting-Draining-Nutrients/dp/B09HHMSM3J
Plus I also mix in extra perlite to make it even grittier, some options could be: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Miracle-Gro-8-qt-Perlite-Soil-74278430/204502291
Or: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Horticultural-Perlite-Gardening-Promote/dp/B08K9BWJ9R?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
Or any other youβd rather use and can find cheaper! Same with the soil, you can find other commercial mixes for different prices, but make sure it specifically says succulent/cacti soil mix. If you wanna learn a little about the soil, this video is great at explaining what goes in succulent soil and also at the end she recommends some store bought mixes: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eMwEqoroz8M
As for lights I have used two types,
The first is a small hallow light that is good for very small plants or one good sized plant. I think the wattage is either 5 or 10β¦ I actually have an echeveria under one of these full time and it does fine, even gives it a nice pink leaf color, which indicates itβs getting a large amount of light: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGRQZ8Y7?starsLeft=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_JXZK6F8THARXHNM2NNG3&th=1&psc=1
Or if youβd like to look into some panel lights that you can stick under a shelf or something, I also use and approve of these, theyβre a higher wattage at 20W so theyβre stronger lights: https://www.amazon.com/APLANT-Spectrum-Sunlike-Greenhouse-Hydroponic/dp/B0CGX3W7RT/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=juB1d&content-id=amzn1.sym.278a231e-7496-43c2-a864-2367bca2eeb2%3Aamzn1.symc.c32ea383-0406-481f-aa79-ef5129d2367b&pf_rd_p=278a231e-7496-43c2-a864-2367bca2eeb2&pf_rd_r=DZXQBV1XAZJCW651AJJG&pd_rd_wg=K4pn2&pd_rd_r=594cd79b-5b3a-4bb3-8b6a-7a3a1eb9c6a8&ref_=pd_hp_mw_btf_ci_mcx_mr_hp_m&th=1&psc=1
Youβll want a light that is strong enough to fulfill their lots of light needs, and make sure it offers a full spectrum color mode!
