Sad palm, please help
I purchased this palm two weeks ago and it has fallen into pretty bad shape. Its leaves have lost color and thereβs noticeable deterioration. One of the stalks seems to have snapped.
I have it on an east facing window sill, and I live in climate thatβs having a cold and dry winter. Any suggestions to help bring this lovely lady back into shape?

@earn hi there. There are two things I see that could be causing your yellow leaves. The first is that you have it too close to the window. Palms are tropical plants, they thrive in bright but indirect sunlight and they crave a warm humid area. Being by the window, itβs getting direct sun which likely scorched your fronds and itβs also probably too cold over there because of the draft from the window. The second thing, is your pot indicates no drainage. If you have a pot with no drainage, the excess water pools inside the pot at the roots leaving them soggy and that can cause root rot or other issue that will kill the plant because the soil never has a chance to fully dry out. My suggestions would be to check the roots to make sure they are healthy, if there are brown mushy ones, remove the bad ones, treat the good roots by rinsing them with 1part peroxide to 3 parts water, move it to a new pot with drainage and place the plant back 4 feet away from that window. I have two palms. I have one 4 feet from a southwest window and the other 4 feet from a west window. I have a room humidifier back there and my plants seem happy. I hope this helps.
@Shells_Garden what humidity for the palms do you find helpful? I have an adult palm, few weeks new to me, thatβs having similar issues as the OP
