Try? Why would cuttings go to waste, you don’t have any other use for them after pruning anyway, do you? Propagation is never guaranteed, I’ve never been successful rooting anything in water for more than a few days no matter what I’ve tried, but plenty of other people seem to be able to root in water with no issues. Try a few different methods and see if one takes, the worst that could happen is it doesn’t root.
