Indoor potted tulips with yellowing leaves are usually suffering from overwatering, poor drainage, or are reaching the end of their lifecycle after blooming. To fix thisstop watering immediately, check that the pot has drainage holes, and ensure it is not sitting in stagnant water. Immediate Actions for Yellowing Tulip Leaves:
Reduce Watering: Overwatering causes soft, yellow leaves and root rot. Only water when the top inch of soil is dry.
Improve Drainage: Ensure the pot has holes and the soil isn't waterlogged. Use a well-draining potting mix.
Check Light: Move the pot to a bright spot with indirect light; too much sun can scorch leaves, while too little causes pale, yellowing, or weak growth.
Post-Bloom Care: If your tulips have already flowered, the yellowing is likely natural. Cut off the dead flower stem but do not cut the leaves. Let the foliage turn yellow and die back completely, as it feeds the bulb for next year.
Temperature Check: Keep away from cold drafts from doors or windows. If the soil is very swampy, you may need to repot in dry, fresh, well-draining soil to prevent bulb rot.
