Is maiden grass a good houseplant?

My dad likes when he sees this plant outside (he says it reminds him of wheat, idk why he likes wheat so much lol), and he wants to have one as a houseplant. However, he has NO experience with plants. Is this an easy houseplant?

Hey Jenna ๐Ÿ‘‹

Well... It's different! But they are kinda beautiful ๐Ÿ˜ and you certainly CAN keep Maidengrass as a houseplant if you want to (they do get VERY large with planted out, but there are dwarf varieties you can buy suitable for planters. You better check regulations for where you are though coz it IS invasive and some places may not allow you to keep it for that reason, it's native to Asia largely)

Most grass is super simple tbh, so it's probably not a bad option... I grow grasses for my cats because they're indoor... In my experience they grow fast and don't last long! Lol but that could just be the KIND of grass I'm growing, as it certainly isn't an ornamental grass like this! ๐Ÿ’š

It'll want a bright, sunny window with lots of light!

Grass usually grows pretty well without too much interference tbh so dampening the soil every so often is probably all it needs as far as watering goes... The app might give you a better idea on that score. I doubt it'll be super fussy about the TYPE of water either, bring grass ๐Ÿ˜‚

One of my favourite online resources, aside from Greg of course! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Is The Spruce, for growing and care guides, and I find one that might be useful for you (since I don't actually know anyone who has this plant, I don't think!)

Hope it helps! Xx
