Those of you using clear nursery pots, is there a certain...

Biggest issues is it’s not natural plant don’t like it. There is no soil you can see Into it completely dark under ground. Light kills worms light kills microbial activity all of that stuff dead means you have no life plant. It should be very short term if anything because it’s a learning experience and you’re just so curious you have to know what a root system looks like on a certain type of plant and then you should really never use it again. Because you’re far past that learning experience and you don’t have to learn every single plant and every single grow it’s a gimmick that kills plants. If you do decide to use one, put it inside of another container. To block the light.
I love this answer. I'm just trying to be the best plant mom. Its kind of like buying all name brands for your kids 🙄. Do you suggest using nursery pots in a planter - it just doesn't have to be the clear? Or do you plant straight in the planter ?
I love love love them. I appreciate Jolly’s point about light but I always put mine in cover pots. My plants are thriving in clear plastic and I can tell by a quick peek how the roots are doing and if they need water. I probably have half my collection of 120 in these pots and plan to continue to switch them over as needed. Some are thin, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I’ve used these but there’s a number of them that also have little trays if you want that. But since I put mine in cover pots, I don’t really need to have the trays. https://a.co/d/09rTkVcq.
Yes I use them and have gotten them from many different sources. Agree on the cover pot- they will develop algae if not. They make it super easy to tell how dry the soil is, how rooted the plant is, and you get a feel for how heavy or light each plant is so you know when to water. I rarely plant directly into a planter anymore - for one thing, so many of the ones you get are the smooth ceramic and don’t have enough drainage holes. With the clear plastic, I can soak my plants straight through and pop them back into the cover pots. It also makes it a LOT easier to repot with less root damage- the roots don’t attach to the sides and break off with repotting. Many of us on here have gotten inexpensive little soldering irons and make holes all over the clear pot to allow for even more air flow! Just make sure and do it outside with a mask so you’re not breathing in melting plastic.
