I think the color of moss balls are getting lighter
I have these two little ones from moss ball pets that seemed to be doing ok for 2 months. They were getting fuzzy & oxygenating in the sun. Then I wanted to try to put them in water that I refrigerated for 15 minutes & then they seemed to change, they didnβt oxygenate in the sun. A week later, I put them in the fridge & they seemed lighter in color after & they lost the fuzz & became more like felt balls again. When squeezing them a little, one felt softer than the other. I then read that they donβt like drastic temperature changes & maybe thatβs what happened. I know it doesnβt look that much lighter in the photo but in person I noticed a difference. Did I do something wrong? How can I get them healthy again? Should I add aquarium salt? #Marimo
I personally don't have experience with aquatic plants. But there is one person on here who loves aquatic plants and aquariums. I'll tag him for you. @Araceae
He is in Singapore so hours will be different than ours. But they'll get back to you hopefully.

@SuperbRaspfern Thanks!
Thanks @SuperbRaspfern
@Easyplantsonly All aquatic plants shouldn't be refrigerated. Those that are offered for sale anyways. The plants are probably rotting at this point. Do they smell? If yes than nothing can be done.
Aquarium salt doesn't affect plants. It only has an effect on fish and other animals. Put in bright, indirect light and monitor. Get a bright lamp if you want [at least a rating of 10 lumens], on for 8hrs a day. With aquatic plants you can't really do much to fix them temperature wise, you just gotta let them heal. If you'd like, you can put them in a bowl of [dechlorinated] water with an small air pump, not too much, just enough to keep the water flowing. This will help the balls maintain their overall shape and keep detritus from collecting within the balls. If you want, you CAN get SOME shrimp so they can eat the detritus, but make sure it's set up properly and research is done wayy beforehand.

@Araceae Thank you! This is good advice. I donβt think they smell bad. I kept trying to sniff them to detect a bad smell but they might smell a bit musty. Iβll have to try the lamp method.
