@SuaveBlackgrass so first off, I am in Utah so the advice I have works here. We are a desert, youβre not. So you may need to tweak things a bit for your area, maybe not. These guys are a bit finicky. They cannot handle tap water, the minerals are too much. It needs filtered, distilled or spring water. Second, they need a bit of humidity, so a bathroom or a kitchen sink area is great if you donβt want to buy a humidifier. Mine are perfectly content to be 12 feet away from a window enjoying whatever natural light comes into the room. As for soil, I have mine in a mix of potting soil, chunky perlite, and coco chips for drainage. They like to be evenly moist, then dry most of the way before rewatering (mine get watered every 10-12 days).
