Is my plant disappearing?

My teardrop peperomia seems to have less “plant” then when I first got it. I tagged her and that’s basically the before picture because I couldn’t find one. The large photo is it now. Is this it acclimating? I got this 1-2 months ago and I only missed watering day once because I wasn’t home. I watered about 2 days late, also, the soil looks wonky. It’s in a clump on the top and no water is fixing it. Help!
2ft to light, indirect
2” pot with drainage

Pull Pepper out of the pot and try to loosen the hard soil a little. I think it’s gotten too dry and is hydrophobic, meaning the water just rolls off. She doesn’t need direct sunlight, so move her further away from the window or put a sheer curtain between her and the window. Good luck with her!
Poor plant
@BeeBalm Thank you, but I don’t believe that it’s hydrophobic. I watered it earlier today and it absorbed the water well
That’s good. It may be getting too much lightht then. Let it dry well before watering.
