Moldy Soil SOS! 🚨

I’ve noticed that the soil on my crispy fern has some white patches in it and it is smelling a bit funny. I know ferns love humidity so I bought a humidifier and placed my plant right next to it. I’ve also placed it on a pebble tray (but really it’s more of a pot than a tray). I think too much humidity might be the cause here- What should I do to get rid of the mold in the soil and avoid root rot? This plant is like a baby to me, any advice is much appreciated! #moldysoil #CrispyWaveFern #FernFriends #SOS #RootRot

Hi A, if it smells off or moldy then it is mos likely root rot and you can also check the moisture level of the soil with a toothpick or even your finger.
The usual treatment is hydrogen peroxide (3%) 1 part to 4 parts water and apply that to the soil. Cinnamon or other similar substances are sometimes used by H202 can be quite effective.

I hope I have helped to answer your question. All the best πŸ‘
