DIY Moss Pole or Coco Coir Poles?

I've been trying to do some research on moss poles since I'd like to get one for my monstera and maybe some other future plants. I was wondering what everyone's experience with them has been? Are the diy versions better? Any tips and tricks would be appreciated! #mosspole #climbingplants

I much prefer moss to coco coir poles because they stay damp for longer and allow aerial roots to attach. If your goal is to get the aerial roots to attach to the pole then I suggest moss. If you just want to prop up your monstera and make it look neater then a coir pole will do just fine.

There’s various ways to make a diy moss pole but I prefer the types that allow you to pack a bunch of moss in the center because it holds moisture for longer and roots cling to it faster. Like these; I’ve linked them below.

I like my DIY ones more than the coir poles I bought. I think they hold more moisture and are easier to mold because you make them to fit
