New to the bonsai world
Just looking for a little info and some tips to help with this beautiful little willow so she grows big and strong πͺ π΄
2ft to light, indirect
4β pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
Nice stump! That has so much potential!
Is it fully rooted yet?
I have a few #Bonsai and #BonsaiTrees and I recommend that in the beginning, you just let it grow and grow! I made the mistake of pruning one of my trees too much and it doesn't look good. I think it's best to leaf it alone for a few years and then start to sculpt it. It's young enough to sculpt the young stems with wire, but I would hold off from cutting it back for a bit.
You'll also want to see if you can find a good place outside for it to thrive. It won't grow well inside ... believe me- I've tried. π

Thanks @Maalylondon π Do you have bonsais?
@sarahsalith I currently have a desert rose thatβs I just just got, but I grew up with and helped grow about 7 or 8 :). Sakuras and other Japanese tress all the way over to baobabs and we tried a weeping fig but that was temperamental lol, please please reach out if you have any questions Iβd be so happy to help!
@Brisleaves if you don't have a good safe place outside for it, then you have to try to replicate the tree's natural environment inside your home.
The soil needs to be fast draining and it cannot dry out for the first year or so until it gets situated in its new environment.
I think that there are differences between trees and plants, but trees seem to be a bit more sturdy to me when they are acclimated. Just make sure you have fast-draining soil and water well: until the water runs out the bottom and dry. When I would keep my bonsais outside, I would water them every other day.
Fast-draining soil is the key. What type of soil do you have?

@sarahsalith I am using an all natural soil bark mix
