Why does she keep dropping leaves?!

#Codiaeum my poor little plant has been dropping leaves ever since I rescued her from behind a garbage. (Maybe there’s a reason it was tossed…) The branches still seem to be alive and passed the scratch test, but I don’t know how to make the leaf dropping stop. It’s currently next to a south facing window. And I use filtered water.
Maybe more light? I welcome insights

With a grow light on it, you should be fine for that need. Here’s what I found online: Croton leaves frequently fall off due to stress caused by environmental changes, such as moving the plant, drafts, low light, or inconsistent watering. The plants prefer bright, direct light and high humidity. They thrive with consistently moist soil, but dropping leaves often indicates either too much water (root rot) or too little. I suspect it’s probably just adjusting from living in garbage. I know I’d drop my leaves if that happened to me!😜
My Croton was doing the same thing. I ended up giving her a major hair cut just leaving one node and to my surprise she bounced back. Took care to not over water. I let her tell me that she was thirsty by paying attention to her leaves. If they start looking a bit droopy then it’s time for a soak.
