You're on the right track with the direct sunlight but it really needs it all day. They also need fertilizer often, about every two weeks to a month. It's likely not root bound yet, but I'd check the drainage hole and see if any roots are poking out. They can grow pretty fast, especially in your climate, and will outgrow that pot quick.
