They do like lots of light so if you have it in partial shade that could be the reason. Is it in a container outside or in the ground? Also it blooms from February through May so yours may not be an early bloomer. Or if it’s very young, or if it had a rough winter outside it may delay producing flowers. It takes a lot of energy to flower. 🌼
@beam Hello it looks like it has a black spot fungus regardless of blooms or not you’ll want to treat to avoid the whole bush from having ugly black spots . Captain Jack’s copper fungicide or like products will rid you of that . Depending where you are like the above poster pointed out it just not be time . Do you fertilize it ? This too will encourage blooms. Good luck

@ILoveMyPlants How often should I spray it with copper fungicide? What kind of fertilizer would be best? Thanks!

@MariansOasis It’s in the ground and in partial shade. Thanks for the info!
@beam Hey Ted I use miracle grow outdoors but here in the plant community I will be boo goo’s for that . I’d look around Amazon they may have a particular for this . With the fungicide I use them when watering the spray isn’t would cost you a fortune. All directions are on the products . I say that cuz they all have different needs . Good luck πŸ€
It needs drainage. It really is an easy plant to grow. Also have you fertilized it? Try those two things and see if it works. They have sich beautiful yellow flowers this time of yesr. Hope this helps

@LeadPurei78 Thanks, Brenda. Anything I can do to improve drainage if it’s already in the ground?
@beam if you’re going to move it do it sooner rather than later. Better when it’s still spring with cooler temps and some spring showers 🌧️ 🌼. It’ll have a better chance. I think you’ll find too it’ll be less prone to diseases when it’s out in the sunshine. Just protect it from a harsh change if you can. If it needs fungicide treatment it may be sensitive to direct sunlight. I’m not sure if copper fungicide can cause light sensitivity πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Maybe Debbie @ILoveMyPlants knows?
@beam being in the ground, drainage should be fine. It’s when it’s in a container with no drainage, that’s when root rot can occur. Because it’s in the ground you may want to change that detail to YES it has drainage. Otherwise Greg will suggest a watering schedule with fewer waterings due to *no drainage*. Except that you have natures drainage, the ground 😝. Some soils can be horrible with drainage but it’s usually clay soil, compacted soil or peat soil. If your garden soil isn’t any of those you should be fine.
@beam No need for drainage it’s in the ground. As @MariansOasis mentioned early spring is the time to transplant if that’s what it needs. Honestly I’d leave it be and start fertilizer and see what happens it’s well established. The fungicide I use for outdoor plants is the rose black spot disease. But that’s me I got rid of the fungus on my primrose and black eyed Susan’s so I assume it’s gentle enough to use every few days or as directly . I’ve never had an issue using treatment in or out of sun . I wouldn’t feed on same time as using treatment in. Fertilizer can be used right now in your area and two or three more times throughout growing season. Also you may want to trim it up good this to will help with new healty growth.
