I've read ferns do well in plastic pots b/c they hold moisture well. But have actually seen beautiful ferns grown in all sorts of pots (my Mom liked ferns & they grew pretty well in whatever she put them in). I think as long as they have enough space for growth & a drainage hole they will be fine!!!
