Hi Tim! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜Š I have a Kangaroo Paw fern and had similar issues at first (he was a rescue and was really sorry looking!). I think you've hit the nail on the head with the issue lol.. they're shade loving plants generally, but can handle indirect or dappled light... Too much full sun will absolutely dry them up!

They all seem to need humidity though (my KPF actually prefers leaf moisture to soil moisture... But the soil needs to be consistently "damp"... Not soggy! Because they get root rot too ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿคฃ (never simple is it?! Hahaha ๐Ÿคฃ).

There's a "The Spruce" article that might help (my next go-to source after Greg itself! Lol)...

I'm sure you'll be able to nurse it back to health!! I'd be very surprised if one spell of hot sun did for it completely! ๐Ÿฅฐ Just read up, plan ahead and be patient, you've got this! Xx
Sup Tim I have a lemon tree and it had the same issues it had to much light they like dappled light!
