This is my first house plant. I am following the watering...
@VipMarigold42 @SuppleCigartree This particular brown tip looks more like physical damage that's scarred over. There's no point cutting it off. It won't grow back or turn green again, and anytime you create a wound on a plant it opens it up to potential disease. Further down on that same leaf I do see a spot that looks like edema damage. Edema is when a plant takes in more water than it can transpire, causing cell walls to burst. It's typically a result of overwatering, which tracks if you've been following the app's watering reminders instead of checking the soil to make sure it's dried out before watering. Snake plants are like succulents, they're very drought tolerant and need a gritty, well-draining soil. The best mix is cactus soil with extra perlite mixed in (equal parts of each). And always check the soil before watering. When in doubt, it's best to err on the side of underwatering than overwatering. A snake plant can survive months without any water; an underwatered snake plant is an easy fix, but an overwatered snake plant, not so much.
