HELP! Corking or dying?

Hi plant community,
I’ve been dealing with my mass cane “corking” per AI but i’m not sure anymore. The trunk has completely turned dark brown and quite a few of its leaves have yellowed and turned brown on the tips. In the photo there is no current brown/yellow leaves. What could be going on?
@YoungAraceae11 hmm, @princesspitstop does this look like a normal trunk to you? I don’t have too much experience with dracaena, but what I can tell is that your leaves look pretty dehydrated. How do you water yours, and when do you decide it’s time to water? What does the soil feel like right now, and when is the last time you watered?
Soil is completely dry, I last watered a week ago, I decide to water whenever the soil is dry. The trunk rapidly went from bright green to dark brown within a week and a half. That’s when the leaves started to yellow and brown
@YoungAraceae11 @DreamMachine Yeah that looks odd. I'm concerned about the yellowing stem. The medium you have it in looks really dry and the leaves look pretty dehydrated as well. Does the pot have drainage? At this point I would definitely check the roots to see how they are looking and take a picture for me so I can see what's going on with them. If they aren't dried out I would repot into some more moisture retentive soil. Just mix in some potting soil into what you currently have it in. Dracaena are drought tolerant but it might not be getting enough water. If by chance the stem does fall off don't count it out. It will produce more down the stalk. If the stalk is healthy. But I really think it just needs a soil refresh and a good soaking.
