Brown spots
Hey can I get some insight on why my monstera is turning brown. She’s not in the sun directly . She’s been in a room, nice temperature.
@Idplantthat yes
@Plantlo I've been told that if a leaf is white or mostly white, that leaf (or the white part) will die because it's white and can't photosynthesize like the green ones do...
My thai monstera also looked like that at one point too but it's looking better now 🤞

Hi Loreal, your Monstera has brown spots on the variegated (white) parts of the leaves and are common and often caused by these areas lacking chlorophyll to absorb light, leading them to die off naturally. Consistent watering is crucial, as inconsistent moisture can lead to edema or root stress, causing browning. Ensure the plant receives bright, indirect light to support the green parts, as the variegated areas cannot produce energy. 🪴💕
@Plantlo, it also happens when they aren’t getting enough humidity and air circulation. Just make sure it’s getting good humidity and light. Personally, I use a little monosilic acid, and that clears up that browning. Those are some of the monstera I was hoping to find one of Thai. But I grow some inside the house/greenhouse/and outside in summer. All variegated and all different climates. I say it because the white, even with everything I do, I still get browning, but not as much when I do like this.
@Idplantthat ooooo we live in the desert so humidity is nonexistent out here . So I will get a little diffuser for them
@Plantlo, that will make a difference like you can’t imagine. Keep your humidity running about 60-65 percent, and you and your plants will be so much happier 😉
@Idplantthat game changer! Thank you 🤎
@Plantlo 🥰🤣🤣 of course I can’t wait to see you photos after!
