Why are the leaves yellowing? This plant is less than 3 f...

Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana). Even though it is sitting 3 feet from the windowβ€”which is generally a great distance for its light preferencesβ€”it is turning yellow due to a subterranean or chemical issue rather than a lighting problem.
When a Dracaena yellows from the center stem outward and gets brown, crispy tips like this, it is almost always caused by one of three things:
1. Tap Water Sensitivity (Most Common)
Lucky Bamboo is incredibly sensitive to the chlorine, chloramine, fluoride, and hard minerals found in standard tap water. Over time, these chemicals build up in the plant's tissues, preventing it from processing nutrients properly and causing the leaves to flush bright yellow and crisp at the tips.
The Fix: Switch immediately to distilled water, rainwater, or purified reverse-osmosis water. In soil, flush the soil thoroughly with distilled water to wash away accumulated salts.
2. Root Issues or Stagnant Water
The health of the leaves directly reflects the health of the roots.
Growing in soil (3" pot): Dracaenas cannot sit in soggy soil. If the pot doesn't have excellent drainage or is being watered too frequently, root rot will set in, causing the main stem and new leaves to yellow and die.
The Fix: Take the plant out of its container and inspect the roots. Healthy roots should be orange, red, or white, and firm. If they are black, brown, slimy, or smell foul, trim the rotten parts away.
3. Fertilizer Burn
Lucky Bamboo requires very little food to survive. If you have added standard houseplant fertilizer to the water or soil recently, it can quickly overload the plant and burn the new foliage from the inside out.
The Fix: Hold off on any fertilizer. Use a specialized lucky bamboo fertilizer once every few months is more than enough.
Thank you so much!!!
