@natureboy8 not quite. ☺️ You have it attached to the petiole, not the stem, but the stem looks like it’s buried and hasn’t grown enough to warrant a pole just yet! so you can untie that and wait to do that until the stem starts rising up out of the soil.

@DreamMachine @stephongreg my plant is facing southwest, so should I give my plant direct or indirect sun?
@natureboy8 monsteras climb trees searching for sunlight, so I always give mine the brightest window possible. But it also helps to know your own conditions, and how harsh or gentle your sunlight is. Since it looks like you are in Ontario, I would think that Southwest window would be perfect. However I might not say the same for that direction in Texas, for example, much closer to the equator.
Keep a close eye on your monstera and their soil while you are figuring out if that spot is good for them. If any parts of the leaves start to look bleached or pale, they might be getting too much sun, or you moved then to the sun too quickly. They need to be be slowly acclimate to brighter conditions if they didn’t grow up in them. So it’s best to start with them just outside the direct sun, then a few days later move them closer a few inches, a few days later move them another few inches into the sun, until you’ve reached your permanent spot for them. This process should take at least a few weeks.

@natureboy8 my pleasure! Too many people move their plants immediately into sun, they get burned, and then they think their plant doesn’t like sun! But nothing could be further from the truth. Think of it like your plant needs to slowly build their ‘base tan,’ if they haven’t been in direct sun before.
Plants that have grown outside though, or have grown their leaves while in direct sun, already have their ‘base tan,’ and are already acclimated. ☺️☀️

@DreamMachine You’re completely right. I just moved it back a little since I bought the plant at a grocery store a week ago.. So i know for a fact there’s barely any sun. I definitely need to slowly acclimate it. The potting mix also dried out within 4 days so that’s a clear sign. I’m just starting my plant journey and im so happy this app exists.
