Pilea refuses to grow

My pilea refuses to grow and I can’t seem to figure out why. The leaves are curled downwards and have a few cracks. It’s looked like this for months without change. I rooted it in water and potted it in SEPTEMBER, it hasn’t grown since.

It was unhappy directly beside my south window, and is equally unhappy 7ft away from it. I’ve tried watering less, watering more, using tap water, filtered water, hydrogen peroxide, anything i can think of at this point and it hasn’t affected the plant whatsoever. The most painful part is that it also refuses to die! It’s genuinely looked the exact same for months, not declining but not improving.

I’ll take any suggestions I can get at this point! Has anybody else dealt with a stubborn pilea?? #Pilea #NewGrowth #help

Awww! It’s so cute! Is it near a humidifier? That might help! Or have you tried giving it some plant food? Good luck! I have a small one rooting in water and am afraid to transfer it to soil πŸ˜…
Give anout a day for it to dry out a bit since you just watered, pop it in a plastic ziploc baggie and put in a sunny spot. The humidity should help spurt some growth. Allow it to air out every now and then.
@S.ham13 thank you!! It isn’t near a humidifier, I wanted to move it into the shower but right now that’s my pest quarantine area haha. Ill try putting a plastic bag over it for now to see if that helps! Thank you for the tips!

Also good luck with your potting! Don’t let mine scare you too much, I think part of my issue comes from it getting root-rot as a water prop. I treated it right before potting and it never forgave meπŸ˜…
@AwesomePlants thank you I’m going to try this next!
Chinese money plants actually hibernate for the winter believe it or not. It could be dormant and that's why you see no growth or decay. You should continue to water less frequently, keep the plant in bright or indirect light, and keep it warm.
@Seedstarter thank you I’ll keep that in mind!
Give her a baby pot, your pot is just too big. Put her in a warmer area with grow light. Try to give her some fertilized soil as well. Btw, how long was her roots before you switch her to soil?
I'd start with a smaller pot. You're likely to over water since there's so much soil compared to the roots. Then water when dry. Honestly she may be dormant right now!
@SpiffyGonolobus unfortunately this is the smallest pot I had available, all my 1.5in pots are occupied so it’s in a 2inπŸ˜… I’ll attach photos of how it looked before/after potting. After the roots photo I removed the dark ones and left it in water a little longer. After potting it lost the larger leaves and hasn’t budged since.

I’ll see if adding some fertilizer helps aswell. I’m also in the process of setting up my new grow light so I’ll make sure he gets a spot under it! Thank you for the response!
@pothosslut unfortunately I don’t have any smaller pots available right now but when one opens up I’ll see if moving it helps! Thanks for the tip!
Oh she's tinier than I imagined!! Grow lights and fertilizer are a great idea - that will help! Also spring is hopefully on its way near you (idk, I'm in southern California so winter means 60° and sometimes rain, winter there is much different I'm sure!!) which will hopefully give some much needed weather and light! ☺️☺️
@thingsNstuff you can grow the plant in a paper cup with LECA at the bottom if you can't find a smaller pot. Too much soil in the pot may end up soil too wet.

I grow my baby syngonium in a paper juice box because the plant is small. I made some holes at the bottom with LECA balls covering the holes.
@thingsNstuff What helped mine was giving it more light and putting a clear glass over it. Same idea as the plastic bag over the top. After I do that, mine grew A LOT! GL! πŸ€
@SunnyPlants thank you!! I’m adding the bag overtop today so fingers crossed this is the secret🀞
@SpiffyGonolobus thanks for the suggestion!! Unfortunately that’s still around the same size it’s in now but I’ll definitely keep this trick in mind!! Can always use more baby pots:)
