As a good rule of thumb, it's always best to check your soil. Ideally you'd want to soil to feel spongy. But, if you pinch a bit in-between your fingers and it creates a moisture bead then it's too wet wait a day. That's what I've been taught anyway for just about everything except succulents. When I had pepper plants, mid-summer I had to water them on a daily basis. Mine normally had droopy leaves, and that's how I was able to tell, plus the soil would already be dried out by the next day.
