What’s wrong with Celeste?
Hey Y’all, I’ve noticed things on the surface of my peperomia’s leaves and was wondering if this is the result of something? Not enough light? Water chemical damage? I’ve noticed these before but thought it could have been the water I was using. All my plants are in the same room, but I had to quarantine some since they were showing signs of fungal/bacterial disease. I also found a brown spot on it, that seems to not be scale? I rubbed a qtip with alcohol and it did not scrape off. It looks like it’s indented into the plant. I actually marked where there’s also other indent circles on the leaf 🌿
❗️In the second picture, the arrow is pointing at the left leaf. If you look closely, the bottom of the leaf has bumps.
⚡️I fertilized all my plants using MiracleGro yesterday and they all seem to be doing great.
☀️Their light consists of 3-6 hours of indirect daylight and sometimes will go under the grow light for 4 more hours after taking a break.
💦I water Celeste about every 2 weeks :)

This seems like a question for the experts: @RJG @jcPlantProper @KikiGoldblatt @sarahsalith
Thanks for the tag, @poisonivy213
Kacape- i'm going to go look at my plant. My first thought is how new is your plant? It may just be physical damage.
I keep my plant in a south window. I wait until the soil is nearly bone-dry.
I really think your plant has physical damage. It's probably not even your fault! If I look closely at my plants leaves, I will find lots of issues. (Pardon the dirty nails- I've been repotting.)
The second picture looks like a lack of humidity. It's probably also because it's under watered and the leaf has wrinkled and cracked.
The third leaf is most likely sun damage, if I had to guess.
In the last picture, there's a spot (sorta like your plant) that is an indentation.
i'm pretty sure the issues that you're dealing with right now are physical damage.
I look forward to what the others have to say. (:

@sarahsalith thank you so much for replying, here’s the issue and I’m doing research as we speak!
Some of my plants that have been struggling with bacterial/fungal infection have these little yellow bumps on some leaves. I’ve been soaking them with alcohol and I scrape them with some metal tongs (gently to not damage the leaf) and these are what they look like.
The last picture are the things I’m scraping off the leaves.
I’ve had Celeste for under a month, so it’s possible, but she’s been growing like crazy. The little slit in the middle leaf as well has scared me, thinking it’s something eating the leaves.

@sarahsalith one of the big leaves has this damage on it. I’m assuming it’s sunburn?
In the second image, there’s a tiny leaf ready to grow and eventually unfurl, but it looks like it’s covered in something. They’re not moving either.

But if you are taking care of all that on your other plants, I would just treat the new plant as well.
however! I do know that the slits in the leaves are sometimes caused by a watering issue. If it's not getting enough water, the leaves will split and break. Sometimes it looks like something has been eating them but really, they're just not getting enough water.

@sarahsalith your peperomia is beautiful, but this helps my anxiety a little bit! This is my first peperomia growing starting small, and I’ve never encountered these issues up until this spring/summer (Texas is so hot).
I will continue my routine of disinfecting and treating. Would you suggest spraying Neem oil or Fungicide 3, by the way? I believe I also have Natria, but I’m not so sure. Don’t remember who, but someone suggested for succulents, it’s better to use a fungicide/insecticide that is put in soil when watering. Thoughts? Sorry for bothering you!!

@kscape you are no bother! ☺️
I use natria on everything but the carnivorous plants.
I wish I had a picture of my peperomia when I got it. I bought it from my local grocery store for a dollar. It was in a 2 inch pot. I think they thrive on neglect!

@sarahsalith of course! You're so knowledgeable I feel like I even benefit from listening in!
@poisonivy213 aw, that's sweet of you. I've just killed a lot of plants. 😉 I love how I'm settled enough now to know what I like and (with the exception of a few #NeverAgain plants) we all get along well. 😁
