Just got a new Echeveria Galaxy Blue

#Echeveria Hey everyone! Just got a new Echeveria breed. However, soft bodied succulents are a bit new to me. I had the same breed before but I unfortunately lost it to a fungal infection which it had when I bought it (I thought I could save it). I’ve heard that succulents with thinner softer petals need a bit more water than the typical succulent like a jade or something. How often should I water this one? It looks healthy right now but I don’t want to be too afraid of watering it to the point that I starve it of nutrients. Some tips would be appreciated! (This plant is inside my college dorm in front of an east facing window. )
3ft to light, direct
4” pot with drainage

Every species is different - οΏΌwhile some thinner leaf Echeveria need more water than the ones with the chunky leaves that’s not always the case with every species. Only water when the soil is fully dried out and you notice the lower leaves are wrinkled (dry). This can be anywhere from 10 days to over a month depending on numerous environmental growing factors. However you’ll definitely need to provide more light. Put it RIGHT next to a southern facing window (east or west can also work as long the light is not blocked by a tree building etc…. ) Most Echeveria will need a supplemental grow light indoors.
@roxyvivien Thanks for the tips! And yes, I was able to move it closer against the window. Although, its leaves are pretty firm right now so I guess I should be fine for now. Since I did just buy it, is waiting three days long enough before repotting it into succulent soil? I dont want to stress it too much.
If it looks healthy it should be fine to repot it now - if using commercial store-bought succulent soil make sure to add extra pumice for drainage 50/50 pumice to bagged succulent soil is usually the right amount of gritty.
Also keep in mind that the days are getting shorter so you don’t wanna wait too long to repot it or there won’t be enough sunlight for it to be in its growth season - I do a lot of repotting in September however, all my indoor Echeveria are under grow lights and my outdoor ones are on an open southwest deck in zone 10b…. When to repot according to sunlight is dependent on your region.
@roxyvivien Thanks so much for the info! I’ll be sure to repot it soon this week as you said because daylight is decreasing. I’ll try to get a grow light for it especially to try to get its really beautiful stress colors. Thank you!
