What’s up with my potato?

I recently trimmed the new growth and leaves have begun to turn yellow. What is going on?

I would think that it needs fertilizer. It looks like its still in water so maybe it need to go into a pot with soil. Mine was doing that too and i threw it in a pot and now the stems are really thick.
