FLF cuttings

Hi all! You may remember I recently cut my FLF and he’s now a large stick. I am attempting to root the branches I cut. I just put them in water, in a bucket, in a sunny spot and change the water each week. I’d say this is week 3 or so. Today I found these white spots on each of the 4-5 cuttings but this one has the most. Is this good? Bad? Is this the rooting? Thanks for your help! #FiddleLeafFig #HappyPlants #CuttingsClub @DreamMachine @Idplantthat @MalagueΓ±a @MariansOasis @NikkiBplantmom @RefinedSandwort @SillyPlantGirl @stephongreg @MamaLinne @WormWarriorFarm
Here they are
@Devsleafypals hi is the stem soft? If so it might be rotting. I’ve never seen those kinda spots.
It does look like a root is forming just above the spots
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful πŸ™πŸ½
Hi @Devsleafypals this is good!! I got those on a philodendron I was rooting πŸ‘. Here’s the info ℹ️:

bumpy white growths are lenticels, which mean your plant cutting is successfully beginning to grow roots!What You Are SeeingWhen a plant cuttingβ€”such as a fiddle-leaf fig or similar woody branchβ€”is submerged in water to propagate, it develops these textured, white bumps along the stem. They are completely normal and are often mistaken for mold or fungus.
@MalagueΓ±a ok. There is no evidence of any of it being alive or moving.
@MariansOasis oh yay! So just keep doing what I’m doing?
@Devsleafypals Here are some Pro Tips 😊 :

follow these quick steps:Change the Water Frequently: Refresh the water every 2 to 3 days to keep oxygen levels high and prevent stagnation.Keep It Clean: If the stem starts to feel slimy, gently rinse it under lukewarm water and wipe the slime away before placing it back in clean water.Provide Indirect Light: Keep the cutting in a warm room with bright, indirect sunlight. Direct hot sun can overheat the water and rot the cutting.
@Devsleafypals Yes!! πŸ™Œ I pretty much did what AI πŸ€– is suggesting- refresh the water, rinse off the slime, and keep in a bright spot to support plenty of photosynthesis. No direct rays β˜€οΈ 🚫
@Devsleafypals Hi Dev! Like Marian @MariansOasis said, I’m leaning toward new root growth as well. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ I’m going to tag @SuperbRaspfern to be sure, but this definitely doesn’t look like scale or rotting to me!
That looks like what I had on my Crepe Myrtle’s- it’s Bark Scale. I used a q-tip with insecticide soap- rubbed a few white spots- it turned the q-tip pink/red- which is 100% scale. I’m still treating all my Crepes. I hope yours is what Marian says. πŸͺ΄πŸ’•
@DreamMachine Absolutely, correct!!!
@SuperbRaspfern @Devsleafypals @MariansOasis @SillyPlantGirl @MalagueΓ±a Woohoo! Are these root primordia then? Or adventitious roots?
@Devsleafypals
New roots! πŸ˜€
