Is my cactus infected or is this normal?

I’ve had my cactus outside in the Denver sun — just decided to repot it because I think there were bugs in the soil (flying bugs bigger than a gnat but smaller than a firefly) were surrounding it. So I’m repotting it with clean new soil after cleaning off the roots etc. but, what are these spots? Are the cactuses infected or something?

It isn’t infected but looks like it was attacked by the bugs you thought were in the soil. Since you repotted it, the bugs should be gone or mostly gone. You should check the soil and leaves to looks for any bugs that may still be lingering there. Hope this helps!

cant really tell if there are any on the plant or if those are just scars/whatev but google scale insect
