My #BirdsNestFern

My #BirdsNestFern is getting yellow leaves and some of the green leaves are getting brown tips. Is this too much or too little water?
I’m no expert on ferns, totally abused one over a year and then it got super unhappy, but I tried to learn from the situation. I found the brown tips were from underwatering. The yellowing was from overwatering, but in particular root rot (I’m guessing I dry rotted it, then I tried to water it and it rotted and never dried). I’d probably try to inspect the roots to see their condition, and monitor the soil dampness for a bit.
Does the fern sometimes dry out? I found with mine that if watering was inconsistent it would sometimes de-invest in some of the older leaves, prioritising the support of any recent leaves when resources were in short supply. They don't like to be waterlogged but they do prefer a consistent supply of water πŸŒΏπŸ’š
Brown tips can be caused from minerals in your tap water if that is what your using. The bottom leaves dying off is normal.
