Root rot
I tried planting this in this cute boot "pot" like in Wall-E. This was a terrible idea. How do I prop this without rotting it more? This is all I have left of the plant... I'm pretty new to tradescantia. #tradescantiazebrina #rootrot #propagationstation #plantsmakepeoplehappy #chopandprop

I recently propagated a Tradescantia zebrina and a Tradescantia nanouk. For the zebrina, I put my cutting in a small pot with well-draining soil and watered when the soil was dry. For the nanouk, I put my cutting in a small vase with tap water. Both had grown roots within 3 weeks and are currently thriving plants. There are many other growing mediums that can propagate plants such as perlite and sphagnum moss, and you can choose whichever one you feel most comfortable with. If you'd like, you can cut the largest plant into multiple sections to increase the chances of multiple cuttings surviving. Tradescantias are easy to propagate and grow really fast, so hopefully your plant can return to its former glory soon!
I have this plant and it has been a challengeβ¦. I have finally got it to stop breaking off. Looks like you still have a piece to propagate. I put mine in water until I get some roots . Once I put it in soil I just water and leave it alone until itβs time to water again. Make sure the soil drains good . I use terracotta pot it helps me not to over water plus I also use a moisture meter.
Had massive success with propagating this recently and am having to give it away!!
I've found is super easy in just sphagnum moss in a propagation box. Keep it nice and moist, super humid and the cutting roots well within a couple weeks!! No special prep or anything.
With no propagation vox you could use a large glass or similar with cling film covering. Haven't done with with wandering dude but works great on my string of hearts :)
Good luck!!
