Traumatized Mammy Croton

#Codiaeum should I give in to the fact she’s not going to make it? I think I got had a bit on Etsy; couple that with user error and this little lady’s had a go of it. She arrived looking well enough considering the poor packaging but after a day had drooped to half size and started losing leaves. I pulled her out and sure enough the roots were too wet- I let them dry out and repotted in a slightly bigger pot with well draining soil and put it in a southern facing window in a room w a fireplace, misting the leaves occasionally. The bottom leaves then dried out and fell off - I reached out to the seller who encouraged me to move her to this massive pot. At this point she’s down to four leaves, and I don’t know if she’s under or over watered but I fear she won’t make it. I think the pot is too large but I’m afraid of traumatizing her further with ANOTHER move. If anyone has advice, even if it’s just to begin mourning lol I greatly appreciate it.

6” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
Oh no! How big is the pot she's in now? 😒
The pot is too big. You just need to be very careful with watering. Don't give up, with specific care, adjusted to this enormous pot, she may survive.
@dysnomia42 8” - she came in a 6” but dwindled to nothing so now this is extra too big!
@SvelteKingfern would you suggest I leave her in this too big pot as opposed to trying to move her again? Really appreciated πŸ™β€οΈ
It's 50:50. I wouldn't move her again, and I would be giving her only 30 ml of water each time, close to the stem. Until she gets better. She may not survive the repotting right now, she's clinging to life.
@SvelteKingfern thanks for the advice, I have some little saint figurines in the pot with her to watch over her lol fingers crossed!
Fingers crossed. I wish your plant all the best, and speedy recovery. With your love and diligence, there's a chance because the stem is still green. πŸ’š
So I got a croton last year and she was big and bushy and multi colored and beautiful. Then all of her leaves fell off. I cried and a friend of mine said don’t worry. I literally had 2 sticks sticking out of the ground that was it. I watered those sticks once a week and when the spring came she started growing back bigger and better and healthier than before. Hold on to hope mama, she will make it thru and be even more beautiful. πŸͺ΄β™₯️
@troby88 πŸ₯ΉπŸ˜β€οΈ oh thank you for your hope and shared experience! I hope in some months I can share how well she’s doing πŸ™πŸ₯°
Crotons are most difficult to care for if kept inside. They usually make better porch plants. If it's not freezing outside near you, I'd recommend setting her outside in direct sunlight during the day whenever possible.
@Jabburwock I’m in the PNW so she’s def an indoor gal haha, appreciate the advice
