So, you'll definitely want to remove the plastic from around its pot. It's restricting airflow to the soil, which will prevent it from drying out and can potentially lead to root rot. As for the browning leaves, without photos I can only guess what might be causing it. These plants really don't like any water sitting on their leaves, it's a very common cause of brown spots with Tradescantia. Another possibility is too much direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
I'm having a similar issue with mine... i think it's because I didn't let it completely dry out between a watering and it caught the slightest root rot... they can be sensitive... but I have also seen it on some of the leaves that are breaking off due to growth... haven't fully narrowed it down.
