What kind of soil is she in? They like a really chunky mix. Mines is a mixture of soil, perlite, orchid bark and horticultural charcoal. The root like air. And was the leaf yellow or brown and towards the bottom before it fell off? It could have been an old or damaged leaf. If it was green or in the middle Iβd still repot in a chunky soil mix and check her roots. Good luck. Sheβs pretty!
@SassyPlants A Philodendron Squamiferum can drop leaves for a number of reasons, including underwatering, overwatering, pests, and temperature issues. Overwatering: Can lead to root rot, which can kill your plant.
Underwatering: Can cause leaves to drop.
Watering schedule: The top inch of soil should be dry before watering.
Soil type: Poor drainage pots can lead to root rot.
Temperature
Temperature range
Philodendrons prefer temperatures between 55Β°F and room temperature, and should be protected from cold drafts.
Temperature drops
If the temperature drops below 12Β°C, the plant may shed its smaller leaves.
Pests
Spider mites: Can leave pale dots on leaves that turn yellow and drop.
Aphids: Can suck the life from the undersides of leaves, leaving a sticky mess.
Scales: Can cause yellowing and vigor loss.
Mealybugs: Can wreak havoc on your Philodendron Squamiferum.
Humidity
Humidity levels: Humidity levels between 60-80% prevent browning and dropping leaves.
Air circulation: Promote good air circulation and try not to splash the foliage when watering.
Light
Light conditions: Philodendrons thrive in medium to bright indirect light. Too much sunlight can scorch their leaves. Make sure you donβt overwater the plant.
